§ Mr. John Moore

asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) what is the purpose of his Department's survey of inshore fishing boats;

(2) how inshore fishing boats are selected for survey by his Department;

(3) if the survey of inshore fishing boats is compulsory for boat owners;

(4) how many surveys of fishing boats have been carried out since the scheme was introduced;

(5) how many civil servants are employed in his Department for the purpose of surveying inshore fishing boats, and at what cost;

(6) when and why the survey of inshore fishing boats was introduced;

(7) what is the cost to boat owners of having an inshore fishing boat inspected;

(8) how often inshore fishing boats are required to be inspected by his Department;

(9) what consultations he had with the fishing industry before the inspectorate was set up;

(10) what assistance his Department gives to inshore fishing boat owners whose boats do not meet requirements;

(11) on how many occasions inshore fishing boats which were inspected have not met his Department's requirements; received from inshore fishing boat owners

(13) what is the average cost of a new inshore fishing boat in 1976; and what it was five years and 10 years ago, respectively.
