§ Mr. Denzil DaviesA number of representative bodies made representations on the content of Schedule 6, but I can trace none on the question whether the proposals were appropriate to a Finance Bill.
§ Mr. Dodsworthasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the increase in Civil Service manpower needed to implement the present Finance Bill, with particular reference to Clause 52 and Schedule 6 thereof.
§ Mr. Denzil DaviesThe net effect of the Finance Act provisions will be a substantial saving of civil service manpower. The provisions of Section 57—previously Clause 52—and Schedule 6 will not create any extra staff need.
