HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 c1189W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many civil servants of the administrative grades are employed in his Department; and what the percentage educated in (a) comprehensive Schools, (b) grammar schools, (c) direct grant schools and (d) public schools.

Mr. Shore

My Department employs just over 20,000 staff in the administration group—that is, in the grades clerical assistant to assistant secretary. Details of their educational background could only be extracted at disproportionate cost.
