HL Deb 06 August 1976 vol 373 c1650WA
Lord KENNET

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they can confirm that, as stated by Lord Oram on 1st July (cols. 863–4), the requirements contained in the official publication Carriage of Dangerous Goods in Ships and the Merchant Shipping (Dangerous Goods) Rules 1965 apply to all ships which go through British territorial waters without touching at British ports.

Lord ORAM

The Merchant Shipping (Dangerous Goods) Rules 1965 apply to all British ships registered in the United Kingdom. For other ships within the United Kingdom's territorial waters the rules apply only when they engage in embarking or disembarking passengers or loading or discharging cargoes or fuel.

House adjourned for the Summer Recess at twenty-one minutes past twelve o'clock noon, until Monday, 27th September, 1976.
