HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 c1192W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his latest estimate of the likely effect of reduced Government support on bus fares in the period up to 1980, in view of the proposed bus fare increases of 8 per cent. in some parts of England in this year alone.

Dr. Gilbert

Calculation of the implications for fares levels of the provision in Cmnd. 6393 for bus revenue support for 1980 is heavily dependent upon a whole range of assumptions about, for example, decisions on the outcome of the Transport Policy Review, future movement in real costs and future levels of demand and of services.
