HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 cc1205-6W
Mrs. Wise

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the current numbers and spread of refuges for battered wives; how much money is being provided from public funds centrally; how much by local authorities; and if this will be affected by public expenditure cuts.

Mr. Freeson

In my answer on 30th July 1976, to my hon. Friend the Member for Luton, East (Mr. Sedgemore) I indicated that there are refuges in 75 local authority areas. In some places there are more than one refuge and I will write to my hon. Friend with further details about numbers and about financial provision.—[Vol. 916, cc. 482–84.]
