The county of South Glamorgan and the area of the Vale of Glamorgan Borough Council are within the Cardiff travel-to-work area for which the rate of unemployment at July 1976 was 6.4 per cent. At the same date the rate of unemployment in the United Kingdom was 6.3 per cent.
