§ Mrs. Jegerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have been held with the Secretary General of the United Nations with a view to advancing negotiations to implement the United Nations resolution on Cyprus.
§ Mr. HattersleyHer Majesty's Government have been in very recent contact with Dr. Waldheim and urged him to fix a date for the resumption of intercommunal talks. We consider that only those talks offer a prospect of finding a lasting solution to this problem, in keeping with the provisions of United Nations' resolutions on Cyprus. The responsibility for making progress, however, lies squarely with the parties.
