§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisThe total numbers of civil servants in post on 1st April 1974 and 1st April 1976 were 692,036 and 747,614 respectively. Following the 925W measures announced in my answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Burnley (Mr. Jones) on 29th July, I expect that by 1st April 1979 the Civil Service will number several thousand fewer than in 1976.
