§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from the Association of Centres of Art and Design Teacher Education on cuts in postgraduate art and design teacher education; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Gerry FowlerIn the light of the contraction which is taking place in the teacher education system, my right hon. Friend proposed that the intake at the centres should be reduced from about 800 places to 500 in 1977. A reply was sent on 20th July to a letter dated 5th July from the chairman of the association and my right hon. Friend has recently received a further letter from him to which he will be replying shortly.
