Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many women were in full-time employment in the United Kingdom in 1st January in each of the past 10 years; and what proportion of the female population of working age these figures represented.

Mr. Golding

Separate figures for full-time and part-time employees were not compiled on an annual basis prior to the introduction of the censuses of employment in June 1971. The information available is as follows:
