HC Deb 04 August 1976 vol 916 c791W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why it took the staff of Stafford prison five months to decide to X-ray Anthony Rawlins following a spinal injury received in prison.

Dr. Summerskill

Mr. Rawlins first complained of back pains on 26th March. He was given appropriate treatment but as he did not show significant improvement the doctor in charge at Stafford prison recommended on 20th June that he should have an X-ray. This was carried out on 1st July at Staffordshire Royal Infirmary. No abnormality was detected: the cause of his pains is not known but he is now improving.
