asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether his Department was preparing a case for the revision of PRT for submission to the Treasury to give greater encouragement to the development of marginal fields, to iron out the anomalies of the tax on a variety of other fields and to take account of the findings of the North Sea Costs Escalation Study, Energy Paper No. 7.

The views of my Department on the effect of PRT on North Sea oil operations will continue to be made known to the Treasury through the normal processes of interdepartmental consultation.
