HC Deb 04 August 1976 vol 916 cc859-60W
Mr. MacGregor

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will recommend an increase in the medical representation on the Royal Commission on the National Health Service, especially in relation to hospital consultants; and what response he intends to give on this point to the representations made to him by the Regional Medical (Advisory) Committee of the East Anglian Health Region.

Mr. Ennals

None of the members has been appointed to the Royal Commission on a "representative" basis. I am satisfied that with its present membership and its opportunities for receiving evidence and advice from a wide variety of interests the Commission will be able to deal with all matters within its terms of reference. A reply on these lines has been sent to the Regional Medical Advisory Committee of the East Anglian Health Region.
