§ Mr. FreesonI am consulting the local authority associations and other bodies concerned before settling the full details of the controls required to implement the announced cuts. These will not be indiscriminate, and I shall ensure that the available resources are concentrated much more selectively than hitherto on meeting the needs of areas of housing stress. I am also in discussion with the building societies about the best ways in which they can help to fill the gap left by the cuts in local authority mortgage lending.
