§ Mr. Barry JonesThe total number of applicants in Wales eligible for compensatory allowances in the current year who have not yet been paid is 167. It is not possible to give separate figures for payments in respect of hill cows and hill sheep. Some of the applicants will be receiving payment shortly, but others where delay is due to probable and other legal difficulties cannot be paid until these problems are cleared.
