§ Mr. Campbellasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he proposes to compensate area electricity boards in England and Wales for losses incurred through price restraint in the financial year 1975–76.
§ Mr. BennTen area electricity boards in England and Wales were in deficit in the financial year 1975–76 and have been advised that, subject to parliamentary approval as provided in Section 1(a) of the Statutory Corporations (Financial Provisions) Act 1975, I intend to pay them compensation for price restraint totalling £56.5 million. The amount is equal to the audited deficits shown in the published revenue accounts of the area boards concerned.
