asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what are the latest EEC predictions of the effect of the drought on food production in Europe.

The Council of Agriculture Ministers on 19th-20th July had a full discussion on the consequences of the drought for the Community and decided on a number of measures which are listed in Council Press Release 877/76 (Presse 89), copies of which are available in the Library of the House. The Commission has not published precise estimates of the effect of the drought on food production, but a comprehensive report is being prepared for the next meeting of the Council of Agriculture Ministers.
