HC Deb 04 August 1976 vol 916 cc823-4W
Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will congratulate the United States Ambassador to the Court of St. James's and her staff for the exemplary fashion in which they observe parking regulations, or, when their members are in breach of such regulation, in which they do not rely upon diplomatic immunity but duly pay their fines; and whether he will draw this behaviour to the attention of the High Commissioner for Nigeria and his staff who for at least five years have headed the list of Great Britain's parking offenders.

Mr. Tomlinson

The discussions which my officials are having with diplomatic missions, including the Nigerian High Commission, with a view to reaching solutions to the parking problem have been greatly assisted by the practice in this respect of a number of other missions, including the American Embassy. Those missions are aware of our appreciation of their continuing co-operation in this matter.
