HC Deb 03 August 1976 vol 916 c667W
Mr. Hannam

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make funds available through grant in aid administered by the Science Museum, for the acquisition, storage and conservation of museum material from underwater excavations licensed under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973.

Mr. Mulley

Funds are already available for these purposes. For assistance in acquisition of such material as for any other museum objects those administering local collections may apply as appropriate to the Science Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum or the Royal Scottish Museum. Assistance towards the costs of storage or conservation may in suitable cases be the subject of application to the Area Museums Service, for which separate grants are made on the advice of the Standing Commission on Museums and Galleries.
