HC Deb 02 August 1976 vol 916 cc609-10W
Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps are being taken by the Clacton social security office to reclaim the sum of £292.90 which was paid out recently in social benefits for the rail fares to London of the party of students from Paddington Technical College stranded in Clacton; and when he expects that sum to be repaid in full.

Mr. Orme

The students signed undertakings to refund the cost of the fares and the Students Union has been asked to help my Department to collect this money. I cannot yet say when the money will be recovered.
