HC Deb 02 August 1976 vol 916 c523W
Mr. Tim Renton

asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many staff continue to be employed by the Civil Service Pay Research Unit; and, in view of the fact that the work of this unit was suspended 12 months ago, on what work they are employed.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

The Civil Service Pay Research Unit at present employs 38 staff. Since last July they have been engaged on a comprehensive review of the unit's methods and procedures and of the structure of its surveys and on the maintenance of a liaison with external organisations including responding to their inquiries and obtaining their views on the unit's survey methods. As I told the hon. Member on 28th July the staff of the unit is shortly to be reduced.
