§ Mr. Tim Rentonasked the Minister for the Civil Service how many staff continue to be employed by the Civil Service Pay Research Unit; and, in view of the fact that the work of this unit was suspended 12 months ago, on what work they are employed.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisThe Civil Service Pay Research Unit at present employs 38 staff. Since last July they have been engaged on a comprehensive review of the unit's methods and procedures and of the structure of its surveys and on the maintenance of a liaison with external organisations including responding to their inquiries and obtaining their views on the unit's survey methods. As I told the hon. Member on 28th July the staff of the unit is shortly to be reduced.
