HC Deb 02 August 1976 vol 916 c644W
Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the purpose of the iron posts and chains erected in New Palace Yard; and what was their cost.

Mr. Armstrong

The bollards and chains in New Palace Yard are intended to prevent the parking of cars on the footpath and to prevent visitors from wandering within the yard. The estimated cost, including their erection, is £4,500. They form part of the scheme for landscaping New Palace Yard approved by the House and have been installed after full consultation with the Services Committee.
