34. Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether it is the policy of Her Majesty's Government not to appoint, as members of industrial tribunals, trades unionists belonging to recognised and duly certified trades unions unless such trades unions are affiliated to the TUC.

Mr. John Grant

It is the Government's policy that all employee members of the tribunals should be appointed after consultation with the TUC.
