asked the Secretary of State for Industry what was the cost to the NEB of buying 400,000 shares in Data Recording Instruments Limited from existing shareholders; what is the par value of these shares; and from whom they were purchased.

I understand from the NEB that it bought 300,000 shares in Data Recording Instruments Ltd. from Grundy (Teddington) Ltd. and 100,000 shares from the NRDC. All these shares were purchased at the par value of £1.
