§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps his Department is taking to assist the construction industry during the present period of recession.
§ Mr. FreesonThe construction industry has benefited from the priority which the Government have given to housing. In the measures announced in the autumn 1975 and in February 1976 to alleviate unemployment a total of over £80 million was allocated for additional public sector construction work. The industry will also benefit from the measures taken to stimulate industrial investment and from the extra £20 million allocated for advance factory building.
