§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he gave approval to the supply during the week ending 17th April 1976 of tank engines and other military equipment which left Jersey, labelled for Jordan; and if he will take steps to ensure that the weapons are not ultimately supplied to South Africa as on a previous occasion.
§ Mr. MasonThe export of defence equipment from Jersey is a matter for the Jersey authorities. From the point of view of Her Majesty's Government there is no objection to the export to Jordan of the equipment in question. After the incident in 1974, to which my hon. Friend refers, the Jordanian Government gave assurances that they would in future dispose of British equipment only after consultation with Her Majesty's Government.
