HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 cc606-7W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will make a statement on the Agreement between the EEC and the Republic of India on trade in textile products; and if he will publish in the Official Report the workings of the burden sharing formula by comparing the United Kingdom's share in percentage terms of the imports of cotton woven fabrics with that of Italy in 1975, 1976, and 1977; and when Italy will reach its target figure.

Mr. Clinton Davis

As a result of the Agreement negotiated between the EEC and the Republic of India under the GATT Multi-Fibre Arrangement, India has agreed to restrict its exports to the EEC of certain cotton textiles and clothing.
