HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 c572W
Mr. Woof

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the effect that the recently announced cuts in public expenditure will have upon that part of the road programme for which he is responsible in Tyne and Wear.

Mr. Marks

The Government's programme of trunk road construction will come under review, both in the light of Cmnd. 6393 and in consequence of the consultative paper on Transport Policy which has been published today. It is too soon to say how the schemes in Tyne and Wear may be affected. Meanwhile, however, the preparatory technical work on these schemes will continue.
