Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many sheltered housing units and places in homes for the elderly there are in the City of Dundee per 1,000 population aged 65 years and over.

Mr. Millan

It is estimated that there are 15 sheltered houses per 1,000 of population aged 65 and over in Dundee district. At the end of 1974 there were 27.81 places per 1,000 population aged 65 and over in local authority homes for the elderly and voluntary homes for the elderly registered with the local authority social work department.

Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons are provided at the last most convenient date with accommodation in homes for the elderly per 1,000 of population aged 65 years and over.

Mr. Millan

At the end of 1974, 12,759 persons were accommodated in local authority homes for the elderly or in voluntary homes for the elderly registered with local authority social work departments. This number represented a ratio of 18.74 persons per 1,000 population aged 65 and over.
