HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 c595W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will introduce legislation further to control the intensive rearing of livestock and the feeding of chemicals to livestock, in view of recently expressed concern with this matter within the industry.

Mr. Strang

There are already controls on the use of medicinal feed additives which closely regulate the amounts, the classes of stock and other conditions under which such additives, which include growth promoters, may be fed. We have at present no intention to extend these controls.
