HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 cc538-9W
Mr. Tebbit

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is his latest estimate of the number of people of Asian origin living in Kenya who have an entitlement to admission to Great Britain for permanent settlement; and what contingency plans he has been able to agree with other countries in the event of their expulsion from Kenya.

Mr. Rowlands

Heads of households with United Kingdom passports and their dependants in Kenya eligible for admission to the United Kingdom number about 18,000. Co-operation with the Kenya authorities has so far ensured their phased and orderly exodus. I believe this will continue, and consider that no contingency plans for other settlement are necessary.
