Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many projects under the accelerated capital projects scheme have been approved in Birmingham and the West Midlands; and what will be the total value of the investment.

Eight projects involving investment in this area have been approved to date, with total costs, including working capital, of £20.722 million.

Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he is satisfied with the take up of aid available under the accelerated capital projects scheme.

The Scheme has made a valuable contribution by bringing forward some £250 million of investment to date. But more projects are under examination and I would welcome further proposals.
