HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 c541W
Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement about the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards the creation of a Palestinian West Bank State supported by a United Nations world district in Eastern Sinai, as part of an overall long-term settlement of the Arab-Israeli dispute.

Mr. Hattersley

My right hon. Friend told the House on 6th August 1975 that he did not think that the proposal for a United Nations world district in Sinai would find international agreement. This remains the position. Her Majesty's Government do not believe that it would be helpful at this time to put forward specific proposals about the terms of a final settlement of the Arab-Israel dispute which is a matter primarily for the parties themselves.
