§ 36. Mrs. Joyce Butlerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will issue a circular to local health authorities encouraging the provision of comprehensive health checks for all men and women reaching retirement age with advice on diet and health care generally.
§ Dr. OwenI consider that the additional resources needed for such checks would be more effectively used on the provision of actual health care for old people. However, screening is one of the subjects discussed in the Health Departments' Consultative Document "Prevention and Health: Everybody's Business" published on 16th March. My hon. Friend might like to write to me in response to that, giving her views.
