§ Mr. BishopUnder the EEC Treaty national aids which distort or threaten to distort competition are incompatible with the common market. The Treaty also places an obligation on member States to inform the EEC Commission of plans to grant or alter national aids, and the Commission is required, in conjunction with member States, to maintain a constant review of existing systems of aid The United Kingdom plays a full part in this review.
