HC Deb 09 April 1976 vol 909 cc341-2W
Mr. Macfarlane

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what has been the percentage increase in telephone charges between April 1974 and April 1976.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

In view of the different mix of calls which every individual subscriber makes, no percentage increase could be of general application. But the Post Office tells me that between the dates quoted the increase in a typical bill for a residential subscriber would have been 91.4 per cent., and for a typical business subscriber, 124 per cent.
