§ Mr. Higginsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services by what authority his Department demands information from those applying for deferment of employees' class I national insurance contributions, on form CF379, about an individual's estimated future earnings from all employments; and why the declaration later on the form, which requires a signed statement that the applicant expects to pay employee's contributions above the limit in specified employments, is not sufficient for the purpose of applying for deferment.
§ Mr. MeacherRegulation 41 of the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 1975 gives the Secretary of State for Social Services power to authorise arrangements for the direct collection and recovery of earnings-related contributions subject to such terms and conditions as he may think fit. However, I accept 333W that Form CF379 asks applicants for deferment to supply more information than is strictly necessary and I am arranging for the form to be amended when it is reprinted.
