§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what regard he pays, when considering further policy in respect of providing facilities for overseas students to study in the United Kingdom, to paragraph 30, page 8 of the Report of the Board of Trade Working Party "Experts and the industrial training of people from overseas" published in 1969, which indicates a link between investment in the training of overseas students in the United Kingdom and subsequent United Kingdom exports to the advantage of the British economy.
§ Mr. Gerry FowlerI am aware of the report, which is concerned with the industrial training of overseas nationals, not further and higher education. The benefits from training overseas students in the United Kingdom are unquantifiable but we have regard to the consideration to which the hon. Member refers.
