asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the present trend in the numbers of applications to settle in the United Kingdom from persons living in the Indian subcontinent who are dependants of immigrants accepted for settlement in the United Kingdom.

In the period 1974 to 1975 there has been an increase in the number of such applications. In Bangladesh, India and Pakistan together there were 31,594 applications in 1975 compared with 22,309 in 1974.
