asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many immigrants from East Africa were accepted for permanent settlement in the United Kingdom over the last 12 months for which figures are available; and how this figure compares with the previous five years.

Provisional figures for 1975 indicate that 3,600 citizens of the main East African countries and 8,260 United Kingdom passport holders from East Africa were accepted for settlement in the United Kingdom, either on arrival or on subsequent removal of time limit.
