Mr. Wakeham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the approximate total number of new local authority tenants who were previously not accommodated by local authorities in England and Wales for each of the last three years.

Based on the Department's relets enquiry, estimates of the number of new local authority tenants accommodated in England and Wales in each of the three years 1972–74 are as follows:

These estimates do not include lettings of dwellings to tenants previously accommodated in local authority dwellings.
