§ Mr. Pattieasked the Secretary of State for Defence what will be the cost of the three-year programme for refitting Nimrod maritime patrol aircraft with improved radio and communications equipment.
§ Mr. JohnCosts are estimated at approximately £6 million. To keep costs as low as possible and to minimise the period during which the aircraft will need to be withdrawn from service, installation work is being carried out by the contractor at RAF Kinloss and combined with major servicing of the Nimrod aircraft by RAF personnel.
