§ Mr. Freudasked the Attorney-General what is now the average delay before an appeal against, a Crown Court sentence is heard.
§ The Attorney-GeneralIt is not possible to state any meaningful way an average time between conviction and sentence in the Crown Court and the disposal by the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) of an appeal against either conviction and sentence or sentence only, as there are a great variety of factors involved, which affect the speed with which any appeal is heard. If the hon. Member has any particular case in mind, and he will bring it to my attention, the facts and the course of events will be examined.
