§ 26. Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will make a statement on the meeting he held on 22nd March with leaders of local government, commerce and industry from the West Midlands.
§ Mr. VarleyAt my meeting on 22nd March there was a valuable exchange of views about industrial development and employment in the West Midlands. I took the opportunity to make it cleat that industry in the West Midlands should not be deterred from applying for industrial development certificates for specific projects in the region, and I shall do everything practicable to assist the West Midlands to overcome its current problems.
