HC Deb 05 April 1976 vol 909 c15W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many men are engaged in ship repairing in each port in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Kaufman

The information cannot be obtained at a reasonable cost except from returns under the Statistics of Trade Act 1947, whose results cannot be disclosed in the form requested by the hon. Member. However, the number of employees engaged in ship repairing at locations around estuaries and at certain ports in the United Kingdom was given in the Report " The United Kingdom Shiprepair Industry " published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office in June 1974, a copy of which is in the Library.
