HC Deb 05 April 1976 vol 909 c3W
Mr. Edge

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has yet made a decision on whether Oxford and Cambridge colleges should retain their charitable status in any reform of the law of charities.

Dr. Summerskill

We are considering all the implications of the Expenditure Committee's recommendation that the law relating to the definition of charitable status should be changed, but propose to defer our reply until the committee set up by the National Council of Social Services has reported.
