asked the Chancelor of the Exchequer what would be the estimated revenue likely to be raised in 1976–77 by taxing the benefit received by employees in respect of insurance against the cost of medical treatment by way of corporation tax and not by way of income tax.

Information on which to base a precise figure is not available, but it is estimated that the additional yield from subjecting the benefit to corporation tax, by disallowing it against the employer's profits, rather than to income tax on the employee, would be less than £5 million.
