HC Deb 05 April 1976 vol 909 c66W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Minister of Overseas Development whether it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to support at UNCTAD IV the proposal for a general conference on the debt problems of developing countries.

Mr. Prentice

The British Government, in common with the majority of other creditors, believe that debt problems are best handled on a case-by-case basis, and that the convening of a general conference on debt problems would not be in the best interests of either debtor or creditor countries.
