HC Deb 02 April 1976 vol 908 c592W
Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking to improve the reception of the BBC World Service to Southern Africa and particularly Rhodesia.

Mr. Hattersley

BBC World Service broadcasts are audible in Southern Africa, including Rhodesia. Reception could be improved by the introduction of additional equipment including the installation of more powerful transmitters, but this would be expensive and cannot be undertaken within the capital programme planned for the near future.
